Cake on a Hill, Paddling in Rock Pools & Building Sandcastles

This week, we’ve been taking full advantage of the sun and going on lots of outings 🙂 On Friday morning, while the girls were at school, my boyfriend and I went to the top of the Cave Hill. We cheated and went to the upper car park but I still want to return when we have more time and climb the whole way up 🙂 It was so tranquil. There weren’t many people walking there and we took time to look at the birds and the waterfall 🙂 When we got to the top, we had some tea and cake and looked at the view. It was beautifully sunny and I love watching everything silently moving beneath you in Belfast 🙂

In the afternoon, we went to Stormont with the girls and walked on the bug trail. The girls liked spotting all the hidden bug sculptures. They liked walking over the boardwalk too 🙂 We cut through a little forest and went to the huge playground there. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too busy. We brought some snacks and coffee with us and the girls got an ice-cream at the little cafe there. We returned to the car via the other trail with the woodland sculptures. Our legs were tired that night and we slept well 🙂

At the weekend, we went to the Giant’s Causeway. We couldn’t have got a better day for it weather-wise 🙂 I love going to the North Coast even though it involves some driving 🙂 We were rewarded with the views 🙂 We walked down to the rocks and climbed on some of the lower ones. There were lots of tourists there that day and there was a holiday-type of atmosphere 🙂 We had a picnic in a quiet spot on a rock. Then, we paddled in the rockpools. The water was so clear and it was really refreshing. It felt like summer had arrived early 🙂 My boyfriend found one of the casings from a fish. The girls and I went to a workshop a while ago in the museum about Flapper Skates and I’d been looking out for their cases since but hadn’t discovered any. He found a collection of them next to the beach 🙂

We walked back after lying in the grass for a while 🙂 I tried to get honeycomb in the shop but they didn’t have any 😦 Then we went to White Park Bay and walked down to the beach. The scenery is beautiful there and it wasn’t too busy. The girls had brought their buckets and spades, so they made sandcastles and my boyfriend made his first sandcastle ever 🙂 The girls ran into the sea but it was freezing 🙂 We stayed there for a couple of hours and then headed home. We stopped in Coleraine and went to Tim Horton’s for dinner because they have dinner meals on offer this month for £3 each. The sun was setting as we were driving back and the sun looked bright red 🙂

This morning, I went for an artist’s date on my own. (from the book The Artist’s Way.) I sat in a sunny cafe and wrote the book I’m working on. I had a vanilla latte and a flapjack and just enjoyed sitting by myself for a while 🙂 I have listed my sunflower print on my Etsy shop now if anyone is interested 🙂 https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1189482044/sunflower-print-feel-the-sun-on-your?ref=listings_manager_grid
