Beach Picnics, Halloween Decorating & Treats for no Reason

Today, I woke up and decided I was going to make today a good day šŸ™‚ It started with coffee with my friend so that was a positive start after the school run šŸ™‚ After that, I had a look in charity shops. I love the fact you can find a treasure and it’s about three pounds šŸ™‚ I got a dress and a cinnamon Yankee candle šŸ™‚

Afterwards, I wanted to spend more time in the sunshine, so I drove to a beach I take the girls to sometimes. I’d never been there without them before and it was a different experience, but it was really calming šŸ™‚ I walked along the shore, watching the boats and the seagulls and enjoying the clear blue views šŸ™‚ There were lots of crunchy leaves underfoot which I always find satisfying in Autumn šŸ™‚ I found a bench and had a picnic and tea I brought and wrote in my journal. It’s been a while since I did an artist’s date (as described in the book The Artist’s Way,) and it was really restorative. I think spending time with yourself in an intentional way is as important for happiness as it is for creativity šŸ™‚ It started to get drizzly, so I drove home and listened to soothing sounds in the car.

I noticed that someone in a house nearby had put their Halloween wreath up in their window, so I decided it was a sign it was acceptable to decorate for Halloween. I dug out my crocheted pumpkins, skull fairy lights and spider garland for the front window. The girls were really excited when they got home from school and saw them, but they will probably be asking me when we are going trick or treating constantly now šŸ™‚

After I got the girls from school, we got a celebratory bun from the bakery each. They picked the biggest, creamiest ones there (funnily enough.) We got home, I made some coffee and lit my cinnamon candle and it felt like the start of a new season šŸ™‚
